The development and humanitarian sector has been a focus for ONG Traducciones since 2012. Although in recent years we have expanded into other industries and areas, we continue to be experts in providing written translations and interpreting services for international cooperation agencies, international and national NGOs and universities implementing social projects. We are a leader in this sector due to the quality, accuracy and speed of our work.

Our knowledge and skill in translating for development and humanitarian assistance projects comes from our own previous experience working on social projects. Before becoming translators we wrote narrative reports and designed Excel files to balance budgets as project managers. This means that we have a strong understanding of our clients’ needs, which include:

• translations that are easy to understand, especially in relation to the description of complex situations that affect the implementation of social projects;
• ensure the accuracy of translated texts, especially in relation to statistics and figures;
• increase the quality of a document by researching the terminology used by the donor, as this can vary significantly between different countries and regions;
• seek clarification with each client regarding any inconsistencies that might appear in their text.

In terms of the way we work, the first thing we do is study. We read everything we can about the project, the donor, the implementing partners and the client in both English and Spanish. Then we look for specific information about the project’s components, which can include WASH, protection, conflict resolution, humanitarian assistance, etc. Once we have this background knowledge we can start with the translation, engaging in excellent communication with the client to clarify any doubts.
